11 US/Canada land ports of entry (LPOEs) dot the border of Aroostook County allowing access to New Brunswick, Canada. A valid passport is required and you must stop at the crossing. Snowmobiles must be registered to ride in Maine or Aroostook County. Visitors who rent sleds do not need to pay the snowmobile registration (your outfitter or guide has already done that). "Ride safe, ride right" is the motto we live by. It is illegal to ride off the marked trail in Maine unless written landowner permission is given. Never drink and ride.
