Located on the banks of the St. John River, Fort Kent, Maine, is known as the "Little Town That Could" and is home to America's First Mile, the northern starting point of historic U.S. Route 1. The town's most photographed landmark is the Fort Kent Blockhouse, an historic site constructed during the border tensions of the bloodless Aroostook War.
