The economic impact of tourism and visitation to Maine and Aroostook County make it third largest industry in the region behind forestry and agriculture. In 2023 visitors spent $169,599,300 dollars in the region that made an economic impact of $255,058,200. This was up 3.5% as compared to the same period in 2022. For 2023 visitation to The County was up 17.5% (332,400 total visitors counted) while over all tourism to Maine was actually down 0.6%. 33% of all visitors to Aroostook County came from Maine while 64% of visitors came from just seven Canadian Providences and U.S. States.
